On October 1st, 2007 Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm passed a series of tax increases that further burdens the citizens and businesses of this state.  The intention was noble in her attempts to close a budget gap but her logic was flawed because only a poorly run, out-of-touch government would increase a tax burden during economic downturns.  According to the most recent updates provided by the US Dept of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (www.bls.gov) on Aug 31, 2007:  Michigan is ranked 48th out of 50 states for economic growth.

House Bill 5194 increases the amount of state income tax all citizens will have to pay and House Bill 5198 requires select businesses that currently don’t charge a tax for the services they provide to start doing so.

Please join our grassroots effort to do the following before December 1st, 2007:

Unlike other groups that ask for financial donations--like the Michigan Taxpayers Alliance (www.mitaxpayers.org) – we are an all-volunteer collective working for the common good of all Michigan citizens and businesses and do not want funds but rather volunteers willing to:

    1. conduct petition drives (according to the Michigan Bureau of Elections we need 305,000 signatures to repeal House Bill 5194 and 305,000 signatures to repeal House Bill 5198),
    2. organize petition rallies,
    3. collect signatures, and
    4. work the media and spread the word about this website.

If you’re fed up with the flagrant disregard the Michigan government has displayed for the well-being of its citizens and businesses and wish to assist us please join our mailing list and contact us to find out how you can help repeal House Bill 5194 and House Bill 5198.
